SIP Calculator
A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) invests a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month, buying more units when prices are low and fewer when they are high. This calculator projects how your monthly contributions can grow over time, with the invested amount and the wealth gained shown separately.

How is the SIP calculated?
Enter your monthly SIP amount, the expected annual return and the duration in years. Each contribution is compounded for the remaining period, so the calculator sums the future value of every monthly instalment to give the total corpus. Contributions made at the start of each month earn one extra month of growth, which the formula includes.
Formula
FV = P × ((1 + r)^n − 1) ÷ r × (1 + r) where: P = monthly SIP amount r = monthly rate of return (annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) n = total number of instalments (years × 12) The final (1 + r) factor accounts for contributions made at the start of each month.
Example
Monthly SIP: ₹10,000 · Expected return: 12% per year · Duration: 15 years Monthly rate = 12 ÷ 12 ÷ 100 = 0.01 n = 180 instalments Future value ≈ ₹50,45,000 Amount invested = ₹18,00,000 · Wealth gained ≈ ₹32,45,000 By year 5 the same SIP is worth roughly ₹8,25,000 and by year 10 roughly ₹23,23,000 — growth accelerates as returns compound on earlier returns.
Things to remember
SIP returns depend on market performance, so the figure above is an estimate rather than a guarantee. Starting earlier and staying invested has the largest effect on the final corpus.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a SIP in a mutual fund?
A SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) is a disciplined way to invest a fixed amount regularly — usually monthly — in a mutual fund or similar investment. It averages out the purchase cost over time and does not require timing the market.
What return can I expect from a SIP?
Equity SIPs have historically delivered roughly 10–14% annually over long periods, but returns vary widely and can be negative in a down market. Treat any calculator figure as an illustration, not a promise.
Can I withdraw my SIP money anytime?
Yes. Open-ended mutual funds are liquid, so you can redeem your units at any time. Keep a 6-month emergency fund outside your investments so you do not have to redeem during a market fall.
