Hourly Wage Calculator
Freelance rates, consulting quotes and job offers all get argued in rupees per hour, but most people only know their salary per year. The gap between those two views is where bad pricing happens: a ₹12 lakh package sounds like ₹600 an hour until you count the unpaid weeks and the hours nobody puts on a timesheet. This calculator converts a salary into an hourly rate under assumptions you can see and change.

How is the Hourly Wage calculated?
Enter a salary and say whether it is annual or monthly — the page annualises it either way. Set how many hours you actually work in a week (40 by default) and how many weeks you work in a year: 52 weeks spreads pay across the whole calendar, while 48 weeks represents four weeks without pay. You get the hourly rate as the headline, plus weekly and the other-period equivalents.
Formula
Annual salary = monthly × 12, or the annual figure as entered. Hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year). The default 40 × 52 gives 2,080 paid hours; choosing 48 weeks divides the same package by 1,920 hours actually worked, which raises the rate. Nothing is deducted — enter gross for the rate your employer pays.
Example
A ₹12,00,000 annual package at 40 hours a week over 52 weeks divides by 2,080 hours to give ₹576.92 an hour, or ₹23,076.92 for a full 40-hour week. Switch weeks to 48 and the same package divides by 1,920 hours instead, lifting the rate to exactly ₹625.00 — the difference between pricing yourself against paid time and against time you actually work.
Things to remember
Quote clients against the 48-week number if you take holidays, and against 52 only if every week is billable. The calculation ignores unpaid overtime and bonuses, so treat it as a floor. If your package is quoted monthly or you want the rate net of tax, convert the salary first and re-run the page with those inputs.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert my annual salary to an hourly rate?
Divide the annual figure by hours per week times weeks per year: 40 × 52 = 2,080 hours is the standard denominator. A ₹12,00,000 package ÷ 2,080 = ₹576.92 an hour. Enter the salary and the page applies this automatically.
Should I use 52 weeks or 48 weeks per year?
Use 52 weeks when every week of the year is paid and worked, and 48 weeks when you take four weeks off without pay. The 48-week option divides by 1,920 hours instead of 2,080, so the same salary shows a higher — and more honest — hourly rate.
Should I divide CTC or gross salary by hours?
Use gross salary for an hourly rate, because employer PF and other CTC add-ons are not paid to you. If all you know is CTC, the salary calculator converts it to gross first — bringing that number here keeps client quotes realistic.
Does overtime pay count towards the hourly rate?
Not here — this page prices regular time only. Overtime is normally paid at a multiplier of 1.5× or more, so including it would hide your base rate. Use the overtime calculator to price premium hours separately.
